
You may wonder why I would even mix my own spices since taco seasoning and such are so convenient and readily available. Take a look at the back of a spice package & check out the mile-long list of ingredients; it's kind of bothersome. I like to skip the hidden zombies since I know exactly what's in the spice mix :)
My husband and I originally took a few minutes one day and washed out & removed the stickers off all the empty spice bottles/containers we could round up. The end product was nothing fancy, just a plastic bottle with the name of the spice mix written on the side in black marker. Since then, I found a nice spice rack with glass bottles and labels that I love.
Here are some of the pre-mixed spices I keep around...
Taco Seasoning
1 tablespoon chili powder
1/4 teaspoon garlic powder
1/4 teaspoon onion powder
1/4 teaspoon crushed red pepper flakes
1/4 teaspoon dried oregano
1/2 teaspoon paprika
1 1/2 teaspoons ground cumin
1 teaspoon sea salt
1 teaspoon black pepper
Mix together and store in an air tight container. Stir into ground beef when time to cook.
Pizza Sauce Seasoning
4 tsp oregano
4 tsp basil
4 tsp parsley
1 tsp salt
2 tsp garlic powder
1 tsp onion salt1/2 tsp crushed red pepper flakes
Mix together and store in an air tight container. Stir into tomato paste before adding to pizza dough.

2 tsp sage
1 tsp rosemary
2 tsp salt
1 1/2 tsp black pepper
1 tsp nutmeg
1/2 tsp cayenne
Mix together and store in an air tight container. Mix into ground beef, ground pork, or ground bison when time to cook.
Italian Sausage Seasoning
4 tsp dried parsley
2 tsp black pepper
2 tsp garlic powder
2 tsp paprika
4 tsp salt
1 tsp crushed red pepper flakes
1 1/2 tsp fennel seed (optional)
Mix together and store in an air tight container. Mix into ground beef or ground turkey when time to cook.
Smoky Blend
1 tbsp smoked paprika
1 tbsp onion powder
1/2 tbsp cinnamon
1 tbsp sea salt
1/2 tbsp black pepper
Mix together and store in an air tight container. I love to put this all over bone-less chicken thighs and then grill them. SO GOOD!!
Have you had a Whole30 compliant day yet? How did it go? I'm finishing up on Day 4 of my Whole30 and so far so good! When I'm tired I find that I want to cope with snacking but luckily we don't have much available in our house that doesn't meet the Whole30 criteria. It certainly helps me be more successful in this challenge!
