Today I'm thankful for avenues of sharing, such as a blog :) I'm also thankful that you're reading it. There isn't much use taking the time to write, if it's not ever looked at. I do want to share a little more detail on why I am even writing on this blog. Because believe it or not, I'm actually not looking for one more thing to add to my day...
I've had many ideas come and go for quite a while, longing to do things that really matter and wanting to have a positive impact on the world. I realized that one of the things I am most passionate about is vibrant, sustainable, health. It's all I ever want to ready books about (seriously, you can ask my hubby!). Our country is in trouble as far as health goes but I want to share what I'm learning, with those who matter most to me... you! Most of my dear friends and family have some area of health they want to improve, as I do too. I don't really care if I get a million clicks a day on this blog but I do care about helping you come up with sustainable, healthful ideas so that you can enjoy the best version of yourself as often as possible & help those you care about do the same. I want to see yo-yo dieting kicked to the curb for good! :)
I'm also writing this blog because I want people to see that nutritious meals (that are much less likely to be stored as excess body fat or cause systemic inflammation) do not have to be hard. They can be tremendously delicious and don't leave you feeling deprived. We feel like kings and queens with all of the great food we consume at our house. There are very few restaurants I even care to eat out at anymore, it's that good! I used to really miss white potatoes occasionally but had quite the turn off to them two weeks ago as I was using some to add to my baby's homemade food (they were left over from a meal I was asked to help with). I always taste the food I mix up for him because I won't feed him anything I wouldn't eat. After tasting it, I couldn't help but notice that they don't even compare taste-wise or nutritionally to a creamy, delicious, power-house sweet potato. It's neat to experience these changes in myself. I hope your taste buds are changing too as you try some of the recipes I've shared and enjoy the fresh, amazing flavors they have!
I hope that what you read here will help you feel empowered to make small changes and incorporate positive habits that will improve your health, in whatever way you're pursuing. Maybe it's weight & fat loss, skin issues, stomach issues, fertility, achy joints, low energy, inability to concentrate, constantly being sick, etc. Nourishing our bodies every day with whole foods, stress management, playful movement, sunshine & restful sleep will heal us and help our hormones work with and not against us, leading to a health-filled life.
I'm not asking you to eat and live a life exactly like mine. I don't want that at all and it would be silly to even promote that because we're all different and have different needs and ways our bodies respond to life. But I am hoping that you will open your mind to new ideas and options from much of the "traditional wisdom" we have been fed for many years that is not making us healthy and thriving. We CAN be healthy and rock our life's mission! I hope you'll continue to join me, a day at a time :)
