Me Time

It has been a day where I have been more annoyed and frustrated with trivial things than usual. I decided that I needed to step back and evaluate what is going on. I found that my answer is... a lot. A lot is going on with my little family and I need to create the opportunity for "Me Time."

For the mom's out there (or others in the traditional "mom role"), you know what it's like to be "on call" 24/7. At my full-time job, I could at least step away for a little break when I needed it. In fact, people probably really appreciated it because I would come back a much happier girl! It's a different story now and some days can be tough. The good new is... there are options to help!

I know many people who really struggle to make time for themselves. I hear things like "there's just too much to be done" or "I feel selfish taking this time." Well guess what... it's NOT selfish (unless you only take time for you every day) and you actually need it to best take care of those you care about.

To start my "Me Time" I decided to enjoy one of nature's little miracles, fresh blackberries! Then I did a short and sweet PEM workout and then curled up to read a book that I've really been wanting to finish (Skintervention Guide by Liz Wolfe). While reading, I actually came across this little gem that goes right in line with the weekly challenge!

"Sleep is the gift you give your body each and every day. We ask so much of our bodies; we give our bodies so much to deal with - from food to thoughts and emotions - and sleep is the opportunity to 'file away' nutrients, thoughts, and every other 'input' in the correct place. We neglect sleep far too often. We 'get by' on too little sleep and 'make do' with poor-quality rest. That must change."

Amen sista'! :)

I really like that she called sleep a gift. Isn't it great that we have the opportunity to give ourselves that wonderful gift every day? It's an opportunity that we have to choose to take. I love sleep and think it rocks! So after I finish my book, I'm going to nourish my body with a new skin care routine I've been reading about and then go to bed super early tonight. It's going to be magical :D

What do you like to do for "Me Time?" Are you making it a priority?
