I feel kind of silly for even needing to post this as a challenge but I think we often take ourselves and lives a little too seriously and need to make time to play! You know... do cartwheels, play some basketball, use hula hoops, go for a hike, play Twister, golf, have a snowball fight, or swim. Maybe you like to play by window shopping at the mall with your friends. Get up and move and try to have some pure, whole-hearted joy while doing it! So... the official challenge, is to make a minimum of 15 minutes each day this week for play. Take more time than that on the days you have it!
One of the main reasons I try to be healthy is so that I can play! That varies from playing sports, to riding my bike outside with my sweetheart, to swim-stalking sea turtles, to crawling all over the floor with my son. My goal is to be able to do these things, along with many others, for as long as I can. I highly advocate finding fun ways to play that will also cover your "exercise" at the same time because you'll enjoy it, which makes it more sustainable long-term. Here's some links to a few articles I suggest reading about some of the benefits of play (like reducing stress, building strength, etc.) or if it's been a while and you need pointers on how to do play.

This challenge may require planning ahead to ensure you're successful in blocking out this precious play time :) My husband has a few days off this upcoming week and so we've already come up with some ideas of what we'd like to do. So far, we're thinking of snowshoeing as a family, skiing (for my husband), taking my son to swim at the Rec Center, possibly ice skating and hopefully another game of volleyball. I'm really excited about this challenge because I tell my husband all the time that we need to play more and now we've got a great challenge to make sure we make it happen this week! What are some of the things you'd like to do to play this week?
